This is a brand new bullion finish coin, issued by the Royal Mint. Coins will be packaged loose for small quantities and come in Royal Mint tubes for orders of 25 and more.

The Double Sovereign version, also known as the £2 coin, provides a satisfying super sized Sovereign for investors and collectors alike. The coin weighs a healthy 15.96g with a gold content of 14.64g
The new 2020 version signifies more than 200 years of the Sovereign featuring the George and Dragon reverse designed by Benedetto Pistucci.
The obverse features the Queen’s fifth portrait by Jody Clark.

A wise choice for those seeking a happy medium between the larger 1oz Britannia and the smaller Gold Sovereign in their gold portfolio. The double size provides a satisfying feel in the hand, while maintaining full liquidity and flexibility liquidate small parts of the portfolio when the desire arises. The £2 face value qualifies the Double Sovereign as legal tender and therefore is free from any Capital Gains Tax.
Collectors will also be keen on adding the Double Sovereign to the equivalent Quintuple Sovereign, Sovereign, Half Sovereign and Quarter Sovereign.
In our opinion, the coin is a sound choice as the premium isn’t inflated by any historical value. It’s a cheap way of owning a DoubleSovereign without having to pay the increased premiums associated with George and Victorian versions. We’d recommend these coins form part of a larger portfolio, mixed with larger 1oz coins and semi-numismatic Sovereign coins, to achieve a balance between buying price, flexibility and growth potential.
