The British Pound
If you’ve been reading the Physical Gold blog recently then you may already know that the Great British pound coin unfortunately features no actual gold whatsoever. However, did you know that when it was first introduced in 760, pound sterling coins were made of pure silver? In fact, it was only in 1946 that Britain stopped using silver to make coins, switching to the current alloy system.
