Flying Fish 1oz Silver coin

This is a 1oz silver bullion coin produced by Scottsdale Mint as a legal currency coin of Barbados. With a face value of 1 Bajan Dollar, this limited issue silver coin (10,000 pieces) is a departure for Scottsdale from their renowned striking silver bars.

Each silver coin is minted to 999 purity silver and contains an ounce (31.103g) of silver. Each coin comes in its own plastic capsule.

Flying fish coin

As part of the Ocean Animals series of coins, the flying fish features ther famous sea creature native to the Caribbean seas. Many a local fisherman will describe how these 3 feet long fish leap from the sea and can fly for up to 200 feet at a time, using their ability to glide to escape ocean dwelling predators.

The 2019 Flying Fish silver coin is the second release from Scottsdale, following on from the previous issue of the Lion Fish silver coin.

The reverse depicts the main image of the Flying Fish, together with the coin weight and purity.

The coin obverse features the Barbados coat of arms along and confirmation of the coin’s face value and year of issue. The coat of Arms consists of the Bearded Fig Tree, Pride of Barbados Flowers, and a dolphin symbolising the importance of the fishing industry.
